'Quick fix' NOT the solution!
‘Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food’ – Hippocrates. This quote could not be any truer. As the age old saying goes ‘we are what we eat’. If we choose to fuel our body with packaged and processed foods, then this will be reflected in our physical appearance and with the presence of many diseases. On the flip side, if we choose wholesome foods with a promising nutritional profile, we will not only ‘feel’ the benefits of good health, but they will show in our physical appearance and by the ‘absence’ of illness.
In today’s society there is an immense expectation to ‘look’ your best and ‘feel’ your best, without much education on exactly ‘how’ to achieve these desired goals. Combine this ‘lack’ of reliable guidance with a fast paced lifestyle and you have a recipe for disaster, or should I say the need for a ‘quick fix’. There are many strategies people employ to lose or even gain weight, one being consuming weight loss drugs. Instead of being counselled on effective strategies that include healthy eating and regular exercise (which take time, effort and persistence), a weight loss drug seems like a quick easy option. There are also many ‘celebrity endorsed’ diets that are promoted by marketing geniuses, which lead people to believe that this will solve all their problems. A diet is just a fancy label that encompasses restrictive eating patterns in order to lose weight. The question to ask yourself though, is this ‘diet’ a sustainable and balanced lifestyle choice that can be maintained for life? This is a yes or no answer.
So in summary, good physical health does not involve any ‘quick fixes’, ‘detox diets’ or ‘weight loss pills’. Sustainable health involves patience, variety, wholesome natural foods, preparation, persistence and the belief that you are worthy. So speak to those who understand nutrition for the best education on how you can look and feel your best. ‘Your body is a temple – Treat it accordingly’.
