I'm currently teaching a mental health unit to my senior Health class, where we are exploring the many factors that can impact positive mental well-being.
Today I introduced the concept of how food choices can affect our mood.
The take home messages were:
- Eating a balanced diet with a variety of wholesome foods can have a positive impact on your mood by releasing 'feel good hormones'.
- If you experience 'happiness' & 'good moods', you are less likely to experience negative self talk, be more resilient to life's adversities AND have a better handle on stress.
What does this mean? Improved mental well-being!
HOORAY for good food, a happy gut and a great mood :)
