Enjoy a 'balanced Christmas' this year

Christmas time can be a rather stressful and anxious time for those who have been working hard all year to improve their fitness and stay on track with diet. There is no need to fear! There are ways to enjoy the festive season without 'falling off the wagon'.

1. Limit your alcohol consumption:

You can still enjoy drinking alcohol, just ensure to break each drink up with a glass of water, OR opt for 'sparkling water with lime'. This way you are still drinking something, but not over doing it.

2. Wait for all the food to be put out before eating away:

It is easy to start eating food as it starts to be brought out. The best thing to do is wait until most food items have been brought out and then you can pick and choose what you want. This stops you from over eating.

3. Grab one plate of food:

Once all the food has been put on the table, grab your plate and put what you want on there. You can choose to have a little bit of everything, whatever you want, just enjoy ONE full plate.

4. Sweets:

The same rule applies to sweets as it does the main meal. Wait until everything has been brought out before rushing to the table and eating away. Once you have assessed what you want to eat, choose 2 or 3 different sweets and enjoy them. You DO NOT have to avoid the desserts, just be mindful of the quantities you are consuming.
